Sowing and fertilization
As the title suggests:Rewards can only be achieved by arduous efforts in sowing the seeds and painstakingly nurturing growth of the seedlings, no gain will be attained if no pain is endured. This is a universally acknowledged truth as for farming. But the same goes with the study in university: By attending lectures listening to teachers intently and taking notes, we sow the seeds of knowledge into our minds; by reviewing the notes and turning over what the teachers has taught in our minds and doing after-class assignments as required, we nurture the growth of our knowledge; and by using the knowledge weve accumulated to pass an exam, win credits or certificates and applying them in work after graduation, we get a bumper harvest brought by our knowledge. As the first and most critical phase of learning, sowing the seeds of knowledge should be given greatest emphasis. Since classes and lectures are the major channels through which we gain knowledge, we should attend them punctually and refrain from playing truants. While the teacher is imparting the invaluable knowledge, we must listen carefully and take notes on important points. A common saying goes, listening carefully in class will help you better than studying on your own after class triple the time, so we should cherish each and every minute in class and grasp as much knowledge as we can. Secondly, after class, we should review what weve learned in class and do relevant exercises until we internalize these knowledge. If we do not review the knowledge that has been inculcated to us and make further ponder on them, no matter how attentive we listened to our teachers or how much note were take down, chances are that we would never turn these knowledge into our own. This process is as important as the watering and fertilizing the seedlings: without water and nourishment, the seedling can never grow into a mature tree and yield any fruit. Thus, without further cultivation on the knowledge weve learned after class, the knowledge can hardly take a deep root in our heart and will gradually die out. Finally, after so much delicate care and precious time spared in sowing the seeds, nurturing growth, we come to the jubilant and long-expected time of harvest. We pass the exams and win certificates or accreditations with our knowledge and are finally offered a decent and well-paid job: The tree of knowledge finally blossom and yield a bumper harvest and all our onerous efforts pay off at last. To conclude, the study in university accords with the proverb As you sow, so will you reap, we should never spare any efforts in learning as long as we expect a bright future, because a promising future is made up of sowing and constant nurturing.
